From a Southern Girls Heart
Although many have been affected by the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, the lives of countless couples have been put on hold. A wedding is something that young girls dream about from the time they are just children. I'm sure guys have thought about it too, just not to the extent that many women do!
When Cecilia & Brandon contacted me about her original wedding date, scheduled for August 2020, I was ecstatic to be given a chance to capture their special day. I have worked with both of them separately before for other photography purposes, but them asking me to capture such a momentous occasion for them, was flattering to say the least!
A few months later, Covid-19 hit the United States, prompting the shutdown of any and all social gatherings for an indefinite amount of time. Weddings were cancelled last minute, plans that have been in the works for years , no longer had the option of a countdown. Dreams were crushed. Venues closed completely. People out of work. Children homeschooling. Florists closed. Bands forbidden to preform. The list goes on and on...
In the midst of this uncertain time, this beautiful couple decided that they weren't going to let a pandemic stand in the way of their LOVE for one another. After much deliberation, they took control of a bad situation and decided to elope on Pine Knot trail in Big Bear, CA (which also happens to be where Brandon proposed.)
Though Brandon & Cecilia still plan on having their formal wedding so they can celebrate with family and friends, they had the MOST beautiful exchange of vows in the forest, surrounded by pine trees and the sweet sound of the wind finding its way through the trees. Birds chirped. Leaves rustled. Pine cones were everywhere.
Minimalistic. It was truly about them declaring their love before God and becoming a family before Him. It was subtle. It was serene.
It was the most ROMANTIC thing I've ever witnessed and captured in my entire life!!!
I am so blessed to have these images that will forever be a shining beacon of pure and honest love in my portfolio. This will be hard to beat.
Thank you again, "The Dickinson's" for a real life love story that unfolded before my eyes. I will forever cherish this day, and cannot wait for the formal celebration next year!
